Please note: We do not hold licences to support overseas candidates. You must have relevant experience managing a children’s residential home and supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and/or learning disabilities.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to join a new 4-bed children’s residential home located in Carlisle, CA2, supporting boys with emotional and behavioural difficulties and learning disabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced children’s residential professional to take responsibility for the registration and development of a brand-new home. As the home is new, the successful candidate will need to be confident working through the registration process and establishing the service from the ground up.

This role is suitable for candidates commuting from Carlisle, Penrith, Workington, Wigton, Brampton and surrounding areas.

As the Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day to day management of the home, ensuring the service provides safe, nurturing and high quality care while meeting all relevant safeguarding, regulatory and organisational requirements.

You will lead and develop the staff team, oversee care planning and risk management, monitor the quality of care being provided and ensure the home operates in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

You will play a key role in developing a positive culture within the home, ensuring the needs, wishes and feelings of the children remain at the centre of everything the service does.

You will also work closely with the wider professional network, including social workers, families, education providers and other agencies, to ensure children receive consistent and appropriate support.

Requirements:

• A positive, caring and compassionate approach to supporting children and young people.
• Previous experience as a Registered Manager or in a senior management position within children’s residential care.
• Relevant experience working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and/or learning disabilities.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Ability to take responsibility for the effective day to day management of a children’s residential home.
• Experience leading, managing and developing a residential childcare team.
• Ability to recruit, induct, supervise and support staff.
• Strong understanding of care planning, risk assessments, safeguarding and behaviour management.
• Ability to maintain high standards of compliance, record keeping and quality assurance.
• Ability to identify and address poor practice and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with families, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
• A motivated, flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
• Relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Relevant Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification.
• Ability to complete and maintain the registration requirements for the new home.
• Full UK driving licence is desirable where required by the service.
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK without s p o n s o r s h i p .

Benefits:

• £39,520 to £44,020 per year.
