Hours: Full-time
Shifts: 2 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern
Shift Times: As required by the service

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to join a children’s residential home located in Chipping, near Preston, supporting children and young people aged 8 to 18 with emotional and behavioural needs.
This role is suitable for candidates commuting from Chipping, Preston, Longridge, Clitheroe, Garstang, Blackburn and surrounding areas.
As an experienced Team Leader, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and effective day to day running of the home, while providing child centred care and leading, guiding and supporting the wider residential care team.
You will coordinate shifts, allocate duties and ensure staff are deployed effectively according to the needs and risks of the children. You will also support staff to follow individual care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and behaviour support strategies.
The role will involve maintaining an overview of safeguarding, risk and behaviour throughout each shift, ensuring concerns are appropriately addressed and escalated where required. You will also support with incidents, shift handovers, staff records, quality assurance and the ongoing development of the team.
You will build positive and professionally appropriate relationships with children and young people, ensuring their wishes and feelings are listened to and supporting them with routines, appointments, education, activities, independence and emotional wellbeing.
You will work closely with managers, colleagues, families, social workers, education providers and other professionals to ensure children receive consistent and high quality support.
Requirements:

- Confidence taking responsibility and making appropriate decisions during shifts.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and behaviour support.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when working under pressure.
- Ability to recognise when concerns need to be escalated to management.
- Ability to follow and promote compliance with policies, procedures, care plans and risk assessments.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate and professional records.
- Ability to provide constructive guidance and challenge poor practice appropriately.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
- A motivated, flexible and proactive approach to work.
- QCF Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or recognised equivalent, or willingness and ability to achieve the qualification within the required regulatory timescales.
- Relevant leadership or management qualification is desirable.
- Experience working with children or young people within residential care, social care, education, youth work or a comparable setting.
- Previous senior or shift leading residential childcare experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards is desirable.
- Experience of safeguarding, incident management, risk assessments or care planning is desirable.
- Experience mentoring or supporting staff is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence, as driving is required by the service.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK without s p o n s o r s h i p .
