Location: Leyland
Salary: £29,600 per annum + £50 per sleep-in
Hours: Full-time, average 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 2 on / 4 off, including days, evenings, waking nights, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins and lone working
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and confident Team Leader to join a children’s residential service supporting young people aged 12–18.
Working closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, providing strong leadership to the staff team while ensuring young people receive safe, consistent and child-centred care.
This is a hands-on leadership position, combining direct care with staff supervision, safeguarding responsibilities and operational oversight. You will help maintain high standards of care and support the service in meeting Ofsted regulations and achieving positive outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities

Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with the day-to-day running of the home

Lead, support and supervise staff on shift

Assist with recruitment, induction, training and staff development

Manage shift planning, staff deployment and day-to-day supervision

Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people

Ensure care plans, risk assessments and records are accurate and up to date

Support the assessment, implementation and review of individual care plans
-
Support young people with behaviour management, emotional regulation and life skills
-
Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow all relevant procedures

Attend meetings, reviews, child protection conferences and court proceedings where required

Maintain effective communication with families, schools, social workers and other professionals

Support with budgets, petty cash, purchasing and financial records

Oversee administration, record keeping and reporting

Help ensure the home remains safe, welcoming, clean and well maintained

Support staff through coaching, feedback, auditing and training
-
Ensure staff remain up to date with safeguarding, legislation and professional practice

Deputise for the Deputy Manager when required
Essential Requirements
-
Significant experience working with children or young people within a residential care setting
-
Previous experience supervising or supporting a staff team
-
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development and behaviour management
-
Good knowledge of Ofsted regulations and quality standards

Experience completing care plans, risk assessments and professional records
-
Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively
-
Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People or equivalent
-
Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
-
Enhanced DBS check
-
Full UK driving licence desirable
