Teaching Assistant

Location: Southampton
Salary: £23,000 – £26,000 per annum (depending on experience & qualifications)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Term: Term time only

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Southampton.

You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing, working closely with teaching staff to ensure every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential — academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the school’s ethos, values, and overall aims
• Act as a positive role model in behaviour, attendance, and professionalism
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to enhance learning outcomes
• Support the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils in line with school policies
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
• Support individuals and small groups to access learning effectively
• Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence in pupils
• Contribute to classroom organisation and behaviour management
• Promote high standards of health and safety at all times
• Participate in meetings, training, and development opportunities
• Support school improvement plans and ongoing development initiatives
