Salary: Main Pay Scale £36,413 – £50,474 + TLR (depending on experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join a specialist SEN education setting based in Totton.
You will deliver engaging, practical Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting learners to build confidence, independence, and essential life skills in a supportive and structured environment.
For the right candidate, there is also the opportunity to step into a Head of Subject role, taking responsibility for curriculum development, departmental leadership, and driving high standards across KS3–KS4.
What you’ll be doing
- Planning and delivering engaging Food Technology lessons aligned to the national curriculum
- Supporting learners with a range of SEN and social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Building strong relationships with students, staff, and wider teams
- Using effective classroom management and de-escalation strategies (Team Teach training provided)
- Demonstrating reflective practice to improve learner outcomes
Head of Subject responsibilities (if applicable):
- Leading the Food Technology curriculum across KS3–KS4
- Supporting and developing staff within the department
- Driving improvements in teaching, learning, and outcomes
- Taking responsibility for departmental standards and performance
What we’re looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Proven teaching experience
- Confidence working within an SEN environment (or strong willingness to develop in this area)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and resilient approach
- Leadership potential (for Head of Subject opportunity)
- Full UK driving licence (desirable)
