About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse ( RGN ) ( RMN ) to join a nursing home team as a Deputy Manager, providing strong clinical leadership and supporting the Care Home Manager in the day to day running of the service. This role is commutable from Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Ringwood, Ferndown, Wimborne, Verwood, New Milton, Lymington, Brockenhurst, Southampton, Totton, Romsey, Salisbury and surrounding areas.

The Deputy Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care and, in the absence of the Care Home Manager, taking responsibility for the overall running of the home. You will lead the clinical team on a shift-by-shift basis, directing and supporting Registered Nurses and Care Assistants to ensure safe, effective and person-centred care.

You will work closely with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and the wider care team to ensure individual care plans are in place and that dignity, respect and choice remain at the heart of the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing and care team
  • Support the Care Home Manager with the overall management of the home
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels, rotas and skill mix
  • Ensure high standards of person-centred care are consistently delivered
  • Support effective care planning and resident reviews
  • Monitor medication administration and implement improvement plans where required
  • Monitor and investigate incidents, ensuring appropriate action is taken
  • Support the management of behaviours that challenge
  • Undertake pre-admission assessments for prospective residents
  • Lead and support staff development, supervision and performance
  • Support the induction and development of new staff
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure concerns are appropriately reported
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement and maintain strong clinical governance
Requirements:
  • A relevant Registered Nurse qualification ( RMN ) or ( RGN
  • Evidence of continuing professional and clinical development
  • Previous experience working at a senior level within a nursing home
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to manage, lead and motivate a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email
  • Understanding of CQC Fundamental Standards, the Care Act 2014 and relevant regulations
  • Awareness of best practice in dementia care is desirable
