Location: Haverhill,

Salary: £39,362.67 per year

Hours: Full-time

Shifts: 2-week rotating rota. Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, then the rota repeats.

Shift Times: 8:00am to 8:00pm

Please note: We do not hold licences to support overseas candidates. You must have experience working within a children’s residential setting and have relevant experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a new 4-bed children’s residential home located in Haverhill, CB9, supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new home with a Registered Manager already in place who is progressing the registration process. The successful Deputy Manager will have the opportunity to be involved in the development of the home and help establish a strong, supportive and child centred environment from the outset.

This role is suitable for candidates commuting from Haverhill, Soham, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and surrounding areas who can reliably travel to the service.

As an experienced Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the day to day running and development of the home, helping to ensure the service is prepared to provide safe, consistent and high quality care once operational.

You will play a key role in supporting the staff team, maintaining safeguarding and compliance standards, overseeing care plans and risk assessments, and ensuring the home operates in line with relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

You will work closely with the Registered Manager to establish positive working practices, support staff development and create an environment where children feel safe, valued and supported. You will help ensure children’s individual needs, wishes and feelings remain at the centre of the service.

The role is based around a structured 8:00am to 8:00pm shift pattern, with the rota shared between the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager. Sleep-ins are included within the salary and are rarely required, depending on the circumstances and needs of the home.

Requirements:

  • A positive, caring and compassionate approach to supporting children and young people.
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with children and young people.
  • Experience working within a children’s residential setting.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Previous experience in a senior or management position within children’s residential care.
  • Ability to support the Registered Manager with the effective day to day running and development of the home.
  • Ability to provide leadership, guidance and direction to the staff team.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Understanding of risk assessments, care plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Ability to recognise and appropriately escalate safeguarding or other significant concerns.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and professional records.
  • Ability to support staff development, supervision and ongoing learning.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • A motivated, flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards is desirable.
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence is desirable where required by the service.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK without s p o n s o r s h i p .
