About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead and manage a residential service for children and young people aged 7–17.
You will be responsible for the overall running of the home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and therapeutic care that meets regulatory standards and promotes positive outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead, inspire and manage the residential care team
- Act as a role model for best practice in safeguarding and therapeutic care
- Represent the home with external professionals, stakeholders and agencies
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota and provide management support when required
Service Delivery
- Ensure high-quality, person-centred care is consistently delivered
- Oversee care plans, risk assessments and behavioural support strategies
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and quality standards
- Ensure documentation including policies, procedures and children’s guides are accurate and up to date
- Promote a safe, supportive and structured environment for young people
Safeguarding & Quality
- Maintain full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Lead on safeguarding practice across the home
- Prepare and support the service through inspections, aiming for Outstanding/Good outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement and quality assurance processes
People Management
- Recruit, induct, supervise and develop staff teams
- Set clear performance expectations and SMART objectives
- Manage rota planning, staffing levels and resource allocation
- Support staff development through supervision, training and coaching
- Promote a positive, values-driven team culture
Operational & Resource Management
- Oversee budgets, resources and young people’s allowances
- Ensure effective occupancy management and placement matching
- Monitor service performance and implement improvements
- Maintain efficient systems, records and reporting processes
About You
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare within the last 5 years
- Level 3/4 Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Working towards or holding Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, SCCIF and safeguarding
- Proven ability to lead and manage a staff team
- Experience preparing for and achieving positive inspection outcomes
- Strong leadership, decision-making and crisis management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Hours
Monday to Friday (full-time, 37.5 hours)
