Following our recent registration as a CQC entity, the team at SNG Healthcare has focused on embedding a specific mindset into every part of our service. This mindset is not a static set of rules; it is a commitment to a shared way of leading, working, and behaving that underpins everything we do as a regulated provider.
For us, the CQC values (Excellence, Integrity, Caring, and Teamwork) are practical tools we use every day to ensure the safety and well-being of the people we support.
Excellence through Insight and Innovation
Excellence in care means being insight-led. We combine high-quality data with the lived experiences of real people to make informed decisions. This approach allows us to be proportionate, tailoring our support to the specific risks and opportunities each individual faces.
As Ashie Ossai, our Registered Manager, explains, this often involves looking beyond just “filling a shift.” We focus on the long-term goals of the individual. “We have to show that we are working towards a goal for each person,” Ashie notes. “It can be something really basic, but whatever support plan is put in place needs to have an element of: how are we helping this person reach this goal?”
Integrity and Accountability
Integrity is the foundation of trust. We aim to be transparent in our decisions and accountable for our actions. This means owning our impact and challenging poor performance with humility and a desire to improve.
Our leadership team holds this accountability at every level:
-
Rebecca Bowring-Kingman, our Nominated Individual, provides the strategic oversight and accountability for our regulated services.
-
Ashie Ossai, as Registered Manager, leads on care quality, assessments, and the integrity of every package we deliver.
-
Karen Trickett, our Temp Recruitment Consultant and Compliance Specialist, ensures that the right people are matched to the right environments.
-
Laura Middleditch handles accounts and compliance, making sure every detail is in place before a shift even starts.
A Culture of Caring
Caring is about more than just meeting physical needs; it is about empathy, respect, and dignity. We seek to understand what lies behind a person’s feelings so that we can offer thoughtful, compassionate action.
This care extends to our staff as well. Karen Trickett highlights the importance of supporting our temporary workers: “SNG are honest, we’re ethical, and we care about our staff. They need that feeling of belonging to a team.” By investing in our people, we create the conditions for them to do their best work, which directly impacts the quality of care our clients receive.
Teamwork and Collaboration
The CQC mindset thrives on collaboration. We build strong relationships and break down silos to achieve our goals together. This is especially evident when we need to respond to last-minute requests from adult care services and children’s residential care.
Karen describes this internal coordination as a “relay race.” “One of us hands the button over to the other one, and then the other one jumps back in,” she says. This seamless teamwork ensures that even in high-pressure situations, our processes remain precise and proactive. We don’t just “pull it off”; we deliver thorough, precise support because we know our team’s strengths and availability.
Leading with Heart and Insight
Ultimately, the CQC mindset at SNG Healthcare is about leading with heart and insight every day. By embedding these values into our culture, we ensure that our registration is a promise of high-quality, reliable care for the communities we serve.
